acclaimed playwright, Ross Ericson, today!

Have you always wanted to write your own play, but have no idea how to put it on paper, or create a sensible dialogue?

Ross Ericson, acclaimed playwright of Casualties - published by Methuen Drama, is holding classes to introduce the skills of writing plays to you. Having had four of his plays professionally produced, Ross Ericson will share his experience of being a playwright, explore the different structures of writing plays, and guide you to write your very own short play, which will be presented in a showcase of rehearsed readings at the end of the course.

Bookings are now open: please email info@gristtheatre.co.uk for more information or to reserve a place on the course.

"One has to give the author... full credit for being bold enough to climb a ladder of meta-levels"

- Aline Waites, Remotegoat on Punchline

"Ericson must be commended for managing to reduce a novel featuring no less than eighteen books into a play of such perfect proportions,"

James Buxton, Extra!Extra! on Tom Jones

Ericson is "a playwright with promise... trace of Pinter in his handling of dialogue"

- Jane Shilling, Telegraph on Casualties

"dialogue is beautifully naturalistic and there is a clear understanding of relationships... giving the actors so much to work with"

- Dan Philips, BargainTheatre on Casualties

"Ericson sets up plot expectations, then avoids them... Ericson is not making propaganda, but skilfully weaves his human story to create a modern experience"

- Timothy Ramsden, Reviewsgate on Casualties

"demonstrates an excellent grasp of what makes good drama as well as creating terrific roles for the four-strong cast"

- Lucy Popescu, TheatreWorld on Casualties

"Ericson does not offer us any definite answers and denies us a resolution: this is a brave choice which serves the content well."

- Ninaz Khodaiji , OneStopArts on Casualties
